Set up a profile system: identity, colours, products and beads

The recorded System Profiles training as a path: where the System app lives, how a system is identified, how colours map to products and prices, and how glazing beads and allowed products complete it.

This is the System Profiles training recorded by the WindoorERP team, as a path you can follow with the profile form open beside it. The full video sits at the top; the linked articles cover the catalogue as a whole and the product-side link that this setup relies on.

The form reads top to bottom in the order the steps follow: identity first, then the designer defaults, then the tabs for dimensions, colours and products, glazing beads, allowed products and the supporting pages. Get the identity right before anything else, because every drawing built on the system depends on it.

One distinction matters throughout. Profile dimensions change only how the design is drawn; the cutting list comes from the component products and the length corrections, which have a training of their own. And a product not mapped on the system is invisible to it: it is not listed in components, not requested from stock, not purchased and not planned.

Find the system

  1. 01 Open System › Profiles & Glass › Profiles The System app holds every technical definition WindoorERP draws, prices and manufactures from; Ctrl+Shift+B hides or shows the app sidebar when you want more room for the long forms. Its two main areas are Profiles & Glass, with profiles, glass and frame colours, and Hardware, which has its own training. Profiles lists every system already set up; the list view compares manufacturer, application and dimensions across systems at once, and opening one shows the form this path follows. Build the system

  1. 02 Identify the system and set its defaults and dimensions Name the system, attach its section photo, and set Application, Profile Type, Opening Type and Manufacturer under Profile Identity; list its Compatible Systems and set the two Designer Defaults so every new item is cut and connected the way your workshop works.   2. 03 Map the colours to products and prices On the Colors and Materials tab add one rule per finish you sell: outside colour first, inside colour only when the combination uses different products. Set the related product and, for special finishes, the rate per square metre, then fill every bar product on the Main Profiles page, the Sliding System page on a sliding system and the Reinforcements page on uPVC.   3. 04 Define the beads, the corrections and the allowed products On Glazing Beads add one line per glass thickness, typed exactly as the glass record has it, with one bead for all types or a bead per type; duplicate lines to cover every thickness. Length Corrections holds the rules that move the cut lengths and the Length Test that previews them. Check it in the designer

  1. 05 See what the designer now offers Open a quotation line in the Frame Studio Designer and pick the system: it is offered only in its own family, only its mapped colours appear in the picker, its compatible partners are the only systems offered beside it, and a product with allowed systems sees only those.
