Before you ask
Pin the site on the opportunity
Why this step
Open the opportunity from the pipeline and go to its Customer Location tab. Take the customer's pin with Refresh from Customer, or place the marker yourself, or paste a Google Maps link and extract the coordinates; then lock it. The request you are about to raise copies this pin, and every quotation of the opportunity follows it.
What this does
The Customer Location tab on an opportunity holds one pin for the whole job: a latitude and a longitude, drawn on a map, with a Google Maps link and a QR code for it. WindoorERP copies that pin onto every technical request raised from the opportunity and onto every quotation and order that belongs to it, so the surveyor, the delivery crew and the installer all drive to the same point.
Set it before you schedule anything. A survey request created while the pin is still empty leaves without coordinates, and the surveyor is left with a written address that, in many districts, does not find the gate.
The tab appears on opportunities only. A record still at the lead stage does not show it.
Before you start
- A Customer set on the opportunity. Until then the tab shows only No Customer Linked.
- Something to locate the site with: the customer's postal address, a Google Maps link, or the building found by eye on the map.
- The right to edit the opportunity. Nothing on the tab needs a special role.
Steps
-
01
Open the opportunity from CRM › Sales › My Pipeline and click the Customer Location tab.
-
02
Read the header: customer, contact, email, phone and address, copied from the customer record and read-only here.
-
03
If Latitude and Longitude still read 0, press 🔄 Refresh from Customer to take the customer's own pin, or to look the address up when the customer has none.
-
04
Otherwise place the pin yourself: press Search Address on Map, click the map, or drag the marker. The two fields follow the marker.
-
05
If all you have is a link, paste it in Map Fetch URL and press 📍 Extract Coordinates from URL.
-
06
Check the marker against the building, then save the opportunity. Press 💾 Save to Customer when the pin should also become the customer's own.
-
07
Once the site is confirmed, press the Unlocked button on the map so it reads Locked and nobody drags the pin by accident.
The Customer Location tab

The tab is one long page in five blocks: the customer header, the coordinates, the map, the link and QR code, and the link importer. Nothing on it is required and none of it touches the price. It exists so that a request leaves the opportunity with the site already located.
| Control | What it does |
|---|---|
| Customer header | The customer, contact, email, phone and postal address, read-only. To change them, open the customer record from Quick Actions at the bottom of the tab. |
| Latitude and Longitude | Decimal degrees to seven places. They are filled from the customer's own pin the moment you pick the customer, and every later change is written to the chatter. |
| 🔄 Refresh from Customer | Copies the customer's pin when the customer has one, with the message Coordinates synced from customer record!. When the customer has no pin, it looks the customer's address up on OpenStreetMap, stores the result on the customer and copies it here. It refuses with Please link a customer to this opportunity first. or Please add address information first., and reports Could not find coordinates for this address. when the lookup finds nothing. |
| 💾 Save to Customer | Shown once the opportunity has a latitude. Writes the pin back onto the customer record and stamps its geolocation date; the message is Coordinates saved to customer record!. With an empty pin it refuses with Please set coordinates on the map first. |
| Search Address on Map | Looks the header address up on OpenStreetMap from your browser and moves the marker to the first match. With no address to send it says No address to search, and Address not found when the lookup returns nothing. |
| The map | Click to drop the marker or drag it; the popup on the marker and the Current line under the map show the point to six places, and the two fields above follow. The banner over the map reads Location set! once there is a pin and Interactive Map while there is none. |
| Unlocked / Locked | The button in the top corner of the map. Locked greys the map out with Location Locked: Map interactions are disabled to prevent accidental changes. and refuses typed coordinates with Location is locked! Please unlock it first to make changes. The lock is copied to the opportunity's quotations and orders. |
| Google Maps URL | Read-only. A link to the pin, built from the coordinates, or from the customer's pin when the opportunity has none of its own. |
| Map QR Code | The same link as a code the crew can scan. Until there is a pin the block says QR code will be generated once you set the location on the map. |
| Open in Maps and Get Directions | Open Google Maps in a new tab at the pin, or with directions to it. With no pin they use the address instead, and with neither they warn Please add address or coordinates first. |
| Map Fetch URL and 📍 Extract Coordinates from URL | Paste a Google Maps link, shortened maps.app.goo.gl links included; the button appears once the field has text and reads the coordinates out of the link. It answers Coordinates extracted: 25.32, 51.53, or Could Not Extract Coordinates with the manual route to follow. |
| Quick Actions | Open Customer Record opens the customer's own form. View on Google Maps is the same as Open in Maps. |
Two smart buttons at the top of the form, Customer Location and Get Directions, do the same as Open in Maps and Get Directions. They appear only when the opportunity or its customer has a pin.
What a saved pin does
Saving a changed pin does three things at once. It writes a note in the chatter, Location Updated, with the new coordinates and the previous ones, or (First time setting location). It copies the coordinates onto every quotation and order linked to this opportunity, even those whose own location is locked, because the opportunity is the master. And every technical request created from the opportunity from then on starts with these coordinates, which is what the survey team receives with the request.
The pin flows one way. Changing it here never changes the customer's own record unless you press 💾 Save to Customer, and a change on the customer's record does not move the opportunity until you press 🔄 Refresh from Customer.
It feeds two other places. Find every customer or opportunity within a distance of a point searches on these coordinates, and the Delivery Location tab on a quotation shows the copy the quotation received.
Pinning many opportunities at once
On the pipeline in list view, select opportunities and choose Geocode Selected Opportunities from the Actions menu. It copies each customer's pin when there is one and looks up the address for the rest, one request per second, and stops before the request would time out. The summary reads Successfully geocoded 3 out of 5 opportunities. and says how many were left untouched for a second run.
Troubleshooting
The tab is missing: the record is still a lead. Convert it to an opportunity.
Everything under the header is hidden and the tab reads No Customer Linked: set the Customer on the opportunity first.
🔄 Refresh from Customer finds nothing: the customer has no pin and the address is too vague for the lookup. Place the marker by hand or paste a link.
📍 Extract Coordinates from URL fails: the link carries no coordinates, which is common for links to a search result rather than a place. Open the place in Google Maps, right-click it, copy the coordinates and type them into Latitude and Longitude.
Location is locked! Please unlock it first to make changes.: press Locked on the map to unlock it, then move the pin.
A quotation shows a different pin from the opportunity: it was created before the pin was set. Move the pin on the opportunity and save, and the quotation follows.
Common mistakes
- Scheduling the survey first and pinning the site afterwards. The request already left without coordinates.
- Typing a building site's coordinates on an opportunity whose customer is a head office, then pressing 💾 Save to Customer, so the company record now points at a site.
- Trusting a shortened link without checking the marker. A link to a search result extracts nothing, or the wrong point.
- Leaving the pin unlocked on a job several people edit.
Checkpoint
Latitude and Longitude on the opportunity are no longer 0 and the marker sits on the right building.
